Actually, Conficius say:
Man with Corvette die with debt
Man with Corvette doom to have no other hobby
Man with Corvette long on dream, short on money
Man with Corvette long on patience, short on brains.
*I am every one of these guys.;)

I have been working on my 68 since 1972 and totally restoring it from ground up since August 1995. I think I have maybe two years to go before it is back on the road and finished to my satisfaction. :chevy

I doubt I will ever be ''done''!!
the ''phase'' I am doing now will probably be at least another year....and after that will be mods to the interior... thinking that will probably take another year and after all that....will probably find something else that ''needs to be done''.
so I guess the answer is ''NEVER''!!

Half the fun of owning a vette is working on it. If it's done then you need another vette

If the Corvette is like any of the "fun" cars I've owned over the last 40 yrs, then it will never be "like the way I want it". Probably when I put it up for sale is the day it will be finished.

Going on 18 months so far. Still have a lot to do. And this is not a frame off resto either. Though in some respects I think barring disassy & Assy time that would make it easier to restore to factory condition. The big plan is to be done in time for the 2003 NCRS Nationals in Pa. That might conflict with my school completion though, so we'll see. ~Juliet

I guess my reply would be 4 years. Every winter for the last 4 years I have taken one section of the car and have gone thru everything I can.

After reading all the responses to this post it becomes more obvious that when you hear that it is cheaper to buy a car that has already been restored or customized the way you want than to buy a "great buy" and fix it up yourself that it is really is cheaper to pay more money up front for the finished car. But with that said, if you buy the perfect car think of all the wonderful hours you would miss out on bonding with your project while lying under it with oil running down your arms!!!!

Three years and counting so far. I'm beginning to think when I get the last thing I want to do to it done, it will be time to redo the first thing I did! :chevy lou

5yrs with a year to go still. although the major projects will be done,i think there will always be something that needs fixing.starting to look around for my next project, although i think i need to build a bigger garage,or add 2 stalls onto the existing 2 car garage,i'll have to "double-deep" it as i have no room to the side.

I wanted an NCRS Top Flight car, it took a 3 year ($30,000 in parts only) frame off restoration, then another 2 years. But on 10/98 I got my L71 her Top Flight blue ribbon.
