'69 Underhood photos needed

Re: '69 Underhood photos needed (ddecart)
Dave I think you meant my photos.
Don't be embarrassed about under your hood..
The radiator area and firewall area of my '69 isn't that clean.
The engine is clean because it was just rebuilt.
I'm afraid to touch the firewall.
Don't want to mess with old brittle wiring trying to clean the area.

Sad thing is my engine was "recently" rebuilt. Well, 2 years and 9500 miles ago anyhow. A few oil leaks here and there, the upper rad hose slipping off without explanation. All just makes the underhood look complete
"My car doesn't leak oil. It just does that to let me know it still HAS oil" :D

Re: '69 Underhood photos needed (ddecart)
I'd like to recommend some of the resources I use for issues like this and for ALL C-3 owners. All except the first two can be bought through Amazon (which is MUCH cheaper than the bookstore or a Corvette supplier):
1) The Vette Vues, Fact Book of the 1968-1972 Stingray, MF Dobbins
ISBN: 0960717668 - PICTURES GALORE! Perfect for this thread.
2) Assembly Instruction Manual - Part#s, How Things Fit
3) How To Restore & Modify Your Corvette Book, 68-82 ; ISBN: 0760300526 - General Tips
4) Corvette Restoration Guide ; ISBN: 0760303258 - Full step by step restoration guide w/tips & pictures
I'm sure there are many more but these have been very helpful to me.

Re: '69 Underhood photos needed (ddecart)
Dave - I know I have a big block but one thing I did notice is that you have no spacer between your fan pulley and your fan like I do on my car. I don't have photos of mine I can post, but I think you may be able to use the clutch fan and/or spacer for a small block to get your fan blades inside the shroud. I'm at work now but if I remember correctly the spacer is about 1.5-2" long and goes in between the pulley and the clutch fan. The spacer may be available by itself. Or if it is still not far enough into the shroud you may have to get an aftermarket one or the spacer/fan for the BB. I read somewhere in another post that your fan blades should be half in and half out of the shroud for proper cooling. It'd be nice to get another vette beside yours with the correct clutch fan so you could compare before you buy something you can't use. BTW, I've got to do the same thing as you since all of my rubber pieces are either dry-rotted or missing and my fan blades were bent due to a broken motormount. Good luck!

Thanks Mark. My fan isn't correct. It's simply better than what Bubba had installed.
That has me thinking...how long is a stock waterpump? Isn't a Vette pump longer than a 'short' one?

Tom: The shroud is part # 3956119, which, contrary to what I stated before, DOES fit the radiator properly.
I've got 2 threads going on this right now. The other one is in the Factory Correct Resto forum and is http://www.corvetteforum.cc:88/zerop...eply&id=997206
Joe Lucia posted perhaps the most knowlegable statement about the radiator and shroud combos that I've seen yet. Actually makes some sense looking at Shannon and 69er's cars.
I'll try to have only one thread going on this so I don't have to post everything twice. So I have to pick one. Looks like there are some pretty knowlegable people hanging out in the Factory Correct section, so lets post there.
Thanks a ton for the help so far everyone. We're getting to the bottom of it. When we do, I think I'll track bubba down and smack the hell out of him!! :D
