Why no tunnel insulation after 76?
Why was there tunnel insulation through 1976...then none? Can it be installed on later sharks and would it do any good to keep passenger compartment cooler? Just wondering.

Did not realise that it was not there in later cars. Could it be related to the change from fiberglass floors to steel floors?

Could be. Not sure when they went to steel. They were steel in 79. I just wonder if installing the insulation would keep the interior cooler and if it can be installed on a steel floored Vette. I know that they had the foam collar on the bellhousing through 79.

I think that they went to metal floors the first year they went to CATS (75?). Yes you can add one to a metal floored car. I have a buddy with a 79 and he installed tunnel insulation. You have to buy the clips and pop-rivet them on and of course drop the transmission to install the insulation.
