Speed off the line
What's the best way to get better speed off the line? Camshaft? Gears? Carb?
My '73 has awsome high end performance, which will get you an extended stay under the jail house if pulled over. I'd like my performance to be in the 0 to 85 range, I could care less about 60-135.

Re: Speed off the line (Ship1)
I would say gears. If you don't care about top end, put in some aggressive gears and you will get into your power band quicker.

I would agree with tex....gears will do it. Also, if yur runnin an auto trans, a stall convertor will launch you much better. What gears are you runnin now?Do you have manual or auto trans? 3.70 gears are good all around. If yur runnin an automatic trans, combine 2500rpm stall with 3.70 gears. That should get you off the line good. Much more then that and you'll have mega wheelspin.

I changed rear gear from a 3.08 to a 3.55. It is a little better if you look at apples to apples, hoever I now run near 3000 rpm at 70 mph. If you add a stalll converter the rpm will be higher as well. plan for thwe type of driving you plan to do and maybe you would be happy with a 3.7 gear. adding a 700r4 trans will bring the rpm's down for highway driving even though I don't think I would be happy with the trans.
