Is it possible to completly remove the AC system from an 81 and make the car look like it was never there with using new OEM G.M parts, the heater controls and also I would like to remove the cruise control in the same way.Thanks.

I have not done it on a Vette, but I did it recently on a 71 Z28 and to do it right I found it best to transfer everything from a donor car, because all of the vent controls in the dash on a a/c car are vacuum operated, and you want to change it to a heater car which uses cable controls. You'll also need to change the firewall where the evaporator case mounts. The major parts (heater box asm.) are no longer serviced by GM.

The cruise was optional in 81. You should be able to do a retro removal by following the standard equipment installation in the assembly instruction manual (AIM). AC was standard for 81, so that creates a bit of a sticky wicket. If memory serves, the console style changed in '79. You may be able to piece together enough non-AC '79 parts to meet your needs.
