Default That big tube up front

I know I have asked this before but I want to try again. That big tube up front that holds vacuum for the headlights....is it structural? I remember someone saying it weighed 35 pounds. I want to get rid of it if I can. My 2800 pound goal has to come from somewhere!

It is for impact. Norval swiss cheesed it for about half the weight.

Well, if I do remove it let's hope I never get into an impact stuation! I never thought about the swiss cheese idea. Maybe a tube in smaller diameter and thickness would work?
