How to re-energize that lingering project?
Ever get to a point with a project that you wish it was over, sometimes sorry you started it, and wish you had all the money you have spent already?
What's everyone do to get re-energized?
Personally, and this may sound strange, but I've found that cleaning the entire garage and getting back to organized helps start the motor. Secondly of course is walking away from it for a few days. Thirdly is a fresh cooler of some very cold Corona's. ;)
I'm about 3/4 of the ways done with my current project (Street Rod) and I'm working on getting over this little hump. I cleaned the garage this morning and just picked up a 12 pack. I'm ready to go! :mad

I like to clean up the garage too . Also, it's good to go to a big car show and check out all the cars. Nothing gets me going like jealousy! :D

I'd have to agree with A C on the jealousy thing. I go up to Bandimere speedway and want to work on the car as soon as I get home. Also work keeps me away from it and makes me want to work on it more. [edit]that which we cannot have, we want more[edit]

Heck, the jealousy thing is what gets me started on all these projects.
Not much slows me down on the project, unless it's doing wifey things from the job jar, kid problems, house problems, etc. Geez, now I see the problem - so that's where all my time went this year!

I found this place really helpful when I was slumping on the '74. Before that a garage cleaning and a few car mags would get the juices flowing. I was going to start a few projects this year, but instead I promised myself I would enjoy driving the beastie this summer!

Joe - I've been fighting that battle most of the summer. There was a thread not long ago where people were talking about how long their project had been going on. When I saw that some had been at it for three or four years and not even driven their Vette, I felt lucky that mines only been down for 8 months.
Today was another of those frustrating days, but after finally getting my beast started I felt refreshed. Success breeds success. The guys on this forum have kept me going when I wanted to take a hammer to my project.

I've been at this now for 11 months. I'm still having a blast but some days it gets a little much. Some days everything goes great and I make alot of progress. Other days I throw in the towel cause everything I touch turns to @#$%. :U
I worked on it all day and made some decent progress. I can't wait to turn the key and take the first spin around the block. Considering all the time, money and effort I have into it I could have built mini-Merlin or Son-of-Merlin. It looks pretty good next to the 78 though. Once I get some paint on it I'm sure I'll feel a lot better. Hopefully within the next two months.

Thanks all for the inspiration.

I do some of the things listed when I get frustrated or fed up with it. What works for me is to talk a friend into keeping me company. It always helps to have someone hand you that wrench you need when your under the car. So what if they drink all your beer. Isn't that what friends are for? :D
