What's the best "deal" you got on a part, mod, etc.
Guess mine has to be a set of barely used (like 1,500 miles) set of Borla's. A friend sold them to me for $50. Wanted $100 but I said "no deal". He just did not like the way they looked! So, i picked them up for $50 and another $60 to install, and, voila:
These make my crossfire sound like alot more is under the hood. Really a deep, pulsating sound. No highway resonance. Were for an 86 that I made fit. I think these would have cost me close to $600 otherwise.

9 years ago I was at a "Chili's" cruise with the '62 Vette. A woman spotted it, called her husband at home. He came to the cruise, told me he bought a '62 Feulie brand new; for efficiency he installed an alternator @ 6K miles, said he had the hi-output generator on his workbench since then and was looking for someone who was not in the buying/selling business to GIVE it to. We walked to his car, he gave me his like-new "genny" and said "I'm glad it's going to a good home". I INSISTED that he take the $10 I had in my hand & stop and buy his wife & 2 kids some ice cream at a nearby Dairy Queen. At the time, they were selling for $135. I got to use it 2 years ago when mine "went south". There ARE nice people in this world!

When you are a known car guy it may surprise some the kind of deals that come along. One of the first was some guy came up to me & asked if I wanted a 3X2 intake. No but asked what he wanted for it. Bought for $7. Later another guy saw it & wanted to buy. Sold for $15. No real money, but 100% profit & helped 2 guys out. Many casual deals. Sometimes someone will try to rip you off- w/ me they might as well ram their head into a brick wall.
Not going to list best "deal", sometimes things are free. If both are happy, it's a good deal.

Looks good. You need a pic. from the back.

Original and complete (oil pan to intake including flywheel, clutch and bellhousing) 1970 LT1 (370HP) engine - $250
Guy took it out of a late 70's work pickup of all things and thought it was the original 350 it came with. Duh! When I saw the CTK code, I almost collapsed. Needless to say, I gave the man his $$$ and got the hell out of there before he got smart.

hmm.
I have only had my vette for 3 months, so I haven't really gotten "Good" deals on used parts.
As for my other car experience, ANYTHING in a junk yard.
But for my 1982 vette, I paid full price for a Hypertech Chip ($119.99) and 160 degree Hypertech Thermostat ($4.99)
That was $125 bucks for an awesome kick in acceleration, horsepower, and torque. I also run at about 170-180 degrees. If you have an 81 or 82 vette, get one. If you own an 80 or under, sorry.... no computer :smash:

Get thee to ebay and learn how to spell ignorantly. My best deals have been stuff that's been listed badly--a set of "corvete" backup lenses, like new, for $7, for instance. If people can't find them with the search function, they don't bid on them.

Darn-near brand-new Holley 4150 800 cfm double-pumper. Garage sale. $20.
Actually my wife got it because I'm not a morning person. She woke me up when she got home to show it to me and said, "Can you use this?"

I got a original dash wiring harness for my 68 at the Lowes speedway swapmeet and car show. It was in excellent condition. Paid $35.00.

I thought of another good deal. Had brakes re-done last week or three. New rotors, one piston rebuild, new pads. The piston rebuild must not have been done right, because the pad struck the rotor funny and scored it mightly. Result? Of course, a new rotor, but the shop gave me 4 new calipers FREE! That is a deal.
