Default GM mini starter $35. Works GREAT!

My old starter just wasn't cutting it after installing the 383. After the engine warmed up it couldn't turn it over. I saw a post by "snaketr" in the "Engine Mods" about installing a used factory GM mini starter from a '95-'99 Chevy 1500 5.7 truck. I purchased one from a salvage yard for $35, installed it and it works really well. I highly recommend this upgrade to anyone wanting to save a few dollars and upgrade their stock starter.
Now it sounds like a late model engine while cranking. That was an unexpected bonus.
The only modification needed was to add ~3/8" stack of washers to each starter bolt to make up for the difference in housing thickness.

Use the G.M. ministarter. I put them on everything I have. You can get them from a Junk yard cheap. If you have a 168 flywheel you will need to get it off of a 350 1500 series truck from 95-99. If you have a 153 you will need to get it off a LT-1 Camaro. The LT1 Corvette will not work because it is a totally different design. I just put one on my 86 vette in it only cost me 30 bucks.

Good find Mike, I'm going to start checking around at junk yards.

Now does anyone know what flexiplate a 69 with a TH-400 uses?

I think I may have to do the same. My Autozone $29.00 is already suffering from heat soak.
