Who's used 460# coil springs?
I'm thinking of a pair of these on my SB. Did you like them? How much stiffer is the ride? Handling improved? Did the ride height change?
thanks
thanks

The key to C3 suspensions, IMHO, is the relation betwen spring rates front and rear. If you use 460 fronts with the OE standard rear spring, you will bounce and porpoise.
See the John Greenwood article in the Vette Improvement Program in the CF archives. It also discusses ride height.
For street use, use OE big block springs and a TRW rear spring with 1 1/8" front stabar and 5/8 rear stabar..
For aggressive driving, use OE F-41 or VB full suspension kit.
Discuss this onthe phone with VB and Dick Guldstrand's shop in Ca.

I am using a 340 LB rear mono-spring and a set of 550 Lb front springs.
Now, I will say that one of the good things about the Phoenix area is - no potholes.
Even so this is a rough ride. Also, the 550's raised my front end 2 inches compaired to the stock springs.
I will be installing the 460's in 1 month. I will cut down 1 coil to drop the front 1 1/2 inches. But I am debating the front transverse mono spring as well as this allows ride height and stiffness adjustments.
Food for thought -- enjoy.

I have the 460 in the front and the 330 in the rear. The car rides a little harsher than stock but very good driver. Handles much better. I had the 550 in the front and the heavy spring in the rear. To harsh for me. I think the springs were not the limit of handling it was the tires. With bigger rubber the 550 would make the car handle great. Rough ride though. We have many potholes here in the East so a little softer is nice sometimes

i'm running 460 springs in the front and VB 330 glass spring in the rear with AC Delco gas shocks. the ride is firm but not harsh, potholes(the ones i can't or didn't miss) really jar the car. that's because i've got the poly bushings also, but i wouldn't change a thing. i'm also running 255/60/15 tires, which i understand from other members posts cause the car to dart a little on uneven roads. rebuilding the suspension is the first thing i did to my vette after purchase,it's been 4 years now and no problems. people who ride in my vette comment that it feels tight but not overly stiff. the 460 springs ride at stock height. my original springs were so bad that someone had placed 2 dummies in them to hold the car up!!! FYI,GM changed the alloy composition in their springs in their 79 and 80 cars, had an 80 Sunbird that had bad springs and my Mom's 80 Oldsmobile had the same problem. i believe the 550 springs are for BB vettes. i'd call Vette Brakes and ask for their recommendations.
