spreader bar and removing the fan clutch
Me and my shop teacher tried to install the spreader bar on my 75 with the stock fan. Theres no way in heck its fitting the pulleys are in the way. He suggested we could remove the stock fan and put in a fan without a clutch and a 2 inch spacer. That should give me enough room to put the spreader bar under the spacer. Is this advisable? Will a direct fan work? Is this spreader bar worth all this trouble? Any advice is appreciated.

If you've already bought the spreader bar, then you could try the fan spacer. You'll lose alittle HP with the fixed fan, and your MPG may suffer alittle, but your car will probably handle better and may run alittle cooler. The spacers are pretty cheap so I'd say give it a try.
You can always add electric fans in the future when your ready. ;)

When you've only got 165 HP to start with I don't think losing any HP is worth any mod. I'll just eat the spreader bar cost for now and like you say maybe one day I'll go with electric fans and use it then. Its no wonder they don't include instructions.

Wanna sell the spreader bar ??
I personally would go to the electric fans. In the meantime, go with the spacer and use a Flex fan. Do not use the stock fan with a spacer.
It higer RPM the stock fans with just a spacer put a lot of stress on the water pump bearings.
Besides, the flex fan will help so you shouldn't loose any HP, may even gain some.

Re: spreader bar and removing the fan clutch (TTop Tony)
thats exactly what i have on now , the high perf flexible airflow fan unit is from summit. it's the narrow tip blue and silver anodized, the spacer is 2in and the bar once my buddy welds it together will fit just under the fan hub, just aft of the first bolts on the upper tower .
I ask my friend about the fan running all the time and he said it is a good thing . keeps the engine cool on idle rpms . how much power do you need during idle?, on hot days it's working good too. temps are normally 190 .
no problems encountered . will have the spreader bar installed soon .

Its good to know it wasn't just my car. I don't see as I have any choice if I want to put the spreader bar on. Thanks

Mine fits nicely. Perhaps your fan clutch is not OE and does not have the front to rear dimension as OE. This would not allow room for the bar.
