Anyone having probelms with Pertronix lobe sensor?
Just wanted to take a poll to see if anyone has had problems with their Pertronix systems. Mine is still working fine, but I've had twoo friends with Mustangs that have had them crap out. I was thinking of putting the points back in just so I didn't get stuck somewhere. Anyone have any bad expeirences with these units?

Mines been in since spring of 98 without a problem. But I did recently find a condition I created. I was checking for a "miss" and discovered that I had tightened the magnetic ring so far as to bend it. I was able to straighten it almost out.

yep, mine died. and the shop i purchased it from said they stopped selling them because 'too many were coming back'. funny how the ignitorII came to market so soon after the first lobe senor did. i am happy with this new unit so far.

I had the lobe sensor go bad. IMO, the magnetic unit is a better idea than the lobe sensor. If I do ever get a new one, it will be the ignitor II. (I'm planning to have my original distributor converted to small-body HEI instead.)
Lots of people around here have the lobe sensor, and love it, so I doubt you'll get a firm answer on this one.

One year so far and no problems. But just in case, I carry my points, condensor and allen wrench in my glove box.
