Wow that was fast, just last Wed you were asking which package to buy and now it is installed already. SOmetimes when you work that fast you forget things, like sparkplugs, lifters etc.

I've had is since last wed. Spark plugs are in. Cam is right. The rockers may be to tight. What I did is tightened them until there was no play then went 1/4 turn more. Then screwed the middle allen screw tight. I worked all thurs. fri. sat. and today I tripple checked everything. What should I do about the rockers?

Re-adjust them. You probably set them too tight, as they were empty (new, they had no oil in them) and you probably didn't notice that you took all of the plunger travel out.

No..that will be too tight. When they say *0* lash..that's a little tricky to describe.
First you have to roll the motor around to set each valve right? The cam has to be on the base circle. Easiest way for me is to set them as follows:
1) When the exhaust on a cylinder is just starting to OPEN...set the intake valve on that cylinder.
2) When the intake is almost CLOSED..set the exhaust on that cylinder.
So back off all the valves until they are loose and then start bumping motor over watching the valves as above.
Once you get it on correct position to set each valve...you want to reach down and pinch the pushrod between your fingertips right below the rocker arm. Lift it up and down with the nut backed off. You want to slowly tighten the adjuster nut just until that up and down slop just barely disappears. You want to just BARELY take all the slack out of the assy. Don't overtighten...you just barely want that up and down wiggle to be gone. It only takes finger tip action...you will likely still be able to spin the pushrod when you have just barely got it to *O* lash.THAT is *O* lash.....the lifter plunger is up and you have no play in the pushrod/rockerarm/valve. THEN you tighten the 1/4-1/2 turn to put the lifter plunger down in the lifter slightly.
Repeat by bumping the motor around for each valve....it will run then just fine.
Good luck!

I am not being a smart *** but... you are setting the rockers with the lifters on the heal of the cam lobe right? You would be suprised how many adjust em and don't get the lifters on the heal first. If not that then you have the timing chain a tooth or two off.

Nice instructions Hotrod --real nice !!! Works for any hyd. cam mild or wild and is the most acurate, you never have to wander if you were on the low side of lobe.

I'm almost certain I set the lash wrong. I did them both with the piston at top dead center on all of them. I need to redo them as per the instructions above.

If you did them at TDC with both valves closed, top of compression stroke and rotor pointed to that cylinder, it'll be fine. Both are on the base of the cam. I've done 'em that way for years with no problems. I just follow the firing order, turning the crank 90* each time (adjust #1, turn crank 90* and adjust #8, turn crank 90* and adjust #4, etc., you'll be on #6 the second time that the balancer mark lines up at TDC. It's easier for me to keep track of this way, but it's certainly not the only way.

Zero lash - Tighten the rocker with a light touch until it stops. You do not compress the lifter at all for zero lash. Just remove any slack, you can do this with your fingers. Then it's a half a turn from there. No need to spin them or anything like that.

Ok, I re did the rockers. I tightened the rockers until I felt no up and down play then went 1/4 turn from there. And then locked the allen head screws in the middle of the nut down tight. Still no luck.
