Default Cam/head gurus, quick question on top-end combo

I had made my decision to go with Summit's "upgraded" Vortec heads + RPM manifold (<1000 bucks), and the Lunati 60103 cam (Lunati version of the popular "268").

Now I can get a sweet deal on a Lunati 30112 + lifters. Can you guys let me know if this would be a good combo to throw on a stock-bottom-end L-48?

cam specs are:

* Advertised Duration IN/EX: 275/285
* Duration @.050 IN/EX: 225/235
* Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .477"/.507"
* Lobe Sep Angle / Intake Ctr Line: 110/106
* Valve Lash IN/EX: Hyd/Hyd
* RPM Range: 2200-5600

Vortecs from Summit are set up for the higher lift, my car has a 700r4 + 3.55 gears, will be able to get a higher stall before I make the changes.

I already decided on the Vortecs, no need to try and talk me into aluminum heads, stroker kits, crate motors, or other such stuff that I can't afford

You have a lot of gearing with the 4 speed auto and you are going
for an upgrade in stall I would go for the bigger cam. rumpity, rumpity

Sounds like it should work. The vortecs and that cam should provide decent cylinder pressure and run on pump gas. I see so many threads where someone says get a 'bigger' cam. What's the big deal about a big cam and a street driven car! Either cam would be healthy for the street. Next thing you know is that someone will say to get alum head. Someone else will say to get a forged bottom end. It goes on and on and on. In my opinion 330-400hp is more than enough for cruising. More than that is just a complete waste. Sure you can brag about it; but so what. I have stated many a time, decide where you want to be in regards to hp when things are finished and don't be influenced by those who think 600hp is the minimum.

I wonder why someone would buy a Z06 C6 that they say can run
close to 200 mph, how many people would try to run it that fast on the street. They could buy a new diesel VW golf and have room for four
people and get 45 miles to the gallon to boot. A C3 vette really makes
no sense it will only fit two people and its so narrow inside two adults
are sitting almost shoulder to shoulder and the luggage space is laughable. guess it comes down to some kind of fun factor and
different strokes for different folks.

Depending on head gasket, your static CR will be between 8.8:1 & 9.3:1. What CR range does the cam mfg suggest for that cam? ... 30112 specs may be a bit big for your CR. You'll probably want to use a thin steel shim gasket like felpro 1094 ... to raise CR and to lower quench height. If there's any weakness in your lower end ... a buncha cam / CR will make it tattle real quick.

-edit- ... BTW I ain't any kind of guru.

Thanks for the answers so far, I think I'll go for the cam deal (it's from a forum member over in C4-land, 99 bucks for brand new cam + lifters).

If I have to bump the compression a bit I'll use the flatter gaskets, plus GM says I can mill the heads down ~.04 for smaller chamber/more CR. If my bottom end is gonna be a weak link that's gonna be the case no matter what I bolt on top of it, whether it's Vortecs or Systemax kit or Performer package.
