Re: The 77 Vette. (Racer-X)
Let's see, just a couple of things off the top of my head:
restyled center console allows for standard GM radios;
I believe rear gears were 3.08 for L48 with 3.55 for L82;
first (only) year for factory rear luggage rack includes optional roof panel (t-tops) holders;
No Stingray nameplates
I'm sure there is more......
email me at:
rpotts@austin.rr.com and I'll send you a full sized pic of the favt page below

SuperFast80 - I can't get it any bigger here - takes up to much room, with my webpages and pics uploaded for ebay I've all but maxed out the space my provider provides.
email me and I'll send you a full sized easy to read copy

I believe leather seat covering became standard in 77. The shifter was lengthed a couple inches so your wrist doesn't tangle with the E brake lever.
The 3.70 rear end was option with the L-82 and close ratio trans.
I'd have to dig out the ad brouchers to find any more.

Great handling w/ FE-7. The 77 had a new steering column which moved the steering wheel forward 2" which was well received by the 6' & over guys.
Last year for large 160 MPH Speedo & large 7000 RPM Tach.
Deluxe interior was standard w/ Leather & nicer carpet & door panels now had black inserts.
See my website, 77 Facts.

Re: The 77 Vette. (Ganey)
plus the obvious: 77= repetative number, its good luck, like 66, 55, 88, 99, or does that only work with clocks?? Plus 7 is just a lucky number anyway. Aside from the year number, I don't really know what is different, of course the center pannel is different, like the early 80's style(without carpet), but it does have the flat back window. It is a unique car for certain parts(hood cable), which makes restoration real fun :cuss

Re: The 77 Vette. (Racer-X)
I just got a 77 in May, the first and probably only Vette I'll own. It's got more horsepower int he base engine (180) than the '75 or '76, but every other C3 has more HP than this one. The thing that most distinguishes the styling is the rear window - it's the last year for the verticle window and the scoop/sails rear hood (and luggage rack). After that, you get the long, horizontal rounded windshield that, imho makes the C3 look like a lot of other ordinary cars (from the rear, anyway). I'm glad I got the scoop. If you want a rear spoiler, you'll have to get a bolt-on.

Re: The 77 Vette. (Racer-X)
I like the '77 because it's a transitional model. It has the sport mirrors and cruise of the later models. It has the higher speedo and verticle rear window of the earlier models. Depending on how you look at it, it's the most modern of the earlier models, or the most retro of the later models. When looking for a Vette, this was the year I wanted. The '77 lacks the spoilers the later models gained. And in my humble opinion, the later models didn't grow into these spoilers until the 80-82 model years, when the additions looked more purposeful than "tacked on".
