i'm having trouble with the anti-theft alarm, i didn't know it was working, somehow today the car didn't want to start, i hear a clicking that comes from a relay on the back compartment (passengers side). how can i bypass the system?, the problem is that the car doesn't have the key cilinder from the door so i don't know what else i can do to disarm it. i have a 1981 AT.

well when i bought the car it didnt have the key entry to open the door, sorry about my english, is a little bit rusty
There is a switch in the other door-use the passenger side lock to see if you can turn it off-turn the key towards unlock and come back to exactly straight up-dont go past center it will reset-if this doesnt work let me know and I will tell how to get rid of the "starter interupt relay"--Hey guys has this guy been around awhile-I wouldnt want to help somebody make off with a car.Kalway you could be right but I hope its not that easy.It takes a 12 volt signal to open the relay(interupt start)-I was thinking it took 12 volts to reclose but if your right by pulling the 10 amp theft fuse it will close then thats not much of an antitheft system.

Well pulling a fuse kept mine from engaging so I figured it'd make it disengage too.
i pulled off the fuse but it doesnt make any differences, what other options do i have?
did you try using the other door key?-there is another switch for the alarm over there.(Thats for opening the door for your date without setting off alarm)

I've found that I have to leave the key in the driver's side door when I open it then take it out after the door is open. On the passenger side you just unlock, take the key out, and open and it's fine. If you do that on the driver's side it goes off, though.

You can adjust that a little bit by rotating the big clip that holds the lock in.Its not the best setup ,I've had to rotate and get everthing lined up and then a little epoxy under the clip to keep it from backing off

It's such habit now that I don't even worry about it. Just open the door THEN take the key out. 2 seconds isn't worth 2 hours of tinkering, to me.
