Mustang gas cap/door
I saw a late model (maybe 2001 or 2002) with what looked like an aluminum cap and/or gas door. It is a flush mount setup with bolt heads around the exterior ring and what may be the cap (or door to a cap) in the middle. I just saw it driving - and didn't get a very good look at it.
Does anyone have one of these cars or even know if this is a stock/optional Ford item?
I was thinking this mounted on the rear deck would give a different look from the same color gas door I have now - hopefully with out the expense and fabrication needed for the motion style cap.

I believe they are standard equipment on the "Bullitt" Mustangs- a limited production GT that has styling ques taken from the 1968 Mustang fastback in the old Steve McQueen movie. I just saw that the new Miata LS has the same type of setup around the fuel door. I too think it would look pretty cool in the middle of the back end, lets us know if you try it.

Was the car a dark green in color? Just watched Car and Driver (1/2 hour tv show on on TNN) this morning , and they were spotlighting a special edition Mustrang ( or should be called Rustang) called the "Bullit"(?) that is in memory of the Steve McQueen for the role he played as Lt. Bullit in a movie were he drove a 67-69 Mustang around the streets of San Fransisco chasing a Dodge Charger.
Anybody else have more info?

I saw a show just this morning on TNN about the Bullitt Mustang - Steve McQueen's son was driving it over the movie chase scene route along with a repo '68.
I'll check into it - FORD might want an arm and a leg for this piece.

Rich's75 - if the car retails at $27K - you would think the gas door should be under $100.00 -- but you know how the big three (there is still three - right?) automakers like to add to the bottom line with parts sales.

rrent, if it looks good ,all the ford venders will be making it before long. My son is into Mustangs ( Vortec 534rwhp) and I have been to several events with him. When one of them gets something, all of them have to have it, and then all the venders start getting them. Hershey :chevy
