THe threaded inserts are available for certain inner diameter tubes, you select the rod end size you want, that gives you the threaded insert size and from that you pick DOM tubing with the appropriate inner diameter. Tubing and the inserts are only available in certain sizes, wall thickness depends on the material you use and what you want
What I was wondering is how you picked the tube for the anticipated loads. Is there a process you use to select an appropriate tube size/wall thickness?
The pipe itself really isn't the most critical factor, the rod end is. That's why I went with the 3/4 on the lower arms and 5/8th on the uppers. 5/8th would have done the job on the lowers also but I wanted a little more security and the thicker wall tube looks a little better than the smaller one. The 1-1/4 OD x .095 wall x 1.060 ID is more than strong enough. I don't have the data sheet on it here, I have it on my other system (in solidworks) and it's easy to do virtual testing in it.
The hockenheim ring is a good couple of hours driving and not open to the publick, same for the sachsenring, nurburgring, eurospeedway and most others. Only Oschersleben has a track day that I'm aware of. No tracks here are open to the public.
The Nurburgring "Nordschleife" used to be open to the public - it's about 16 miles per lap and fun to drive.... although you have to be careful with all the motorbikes there, they go >150mph on the last straight
Also, the exhaust has to be pretty darn quiet, under 95 dB(A) ..that's pathetic!
It's a 250km drive..not too bad.
A buddy of mine wanted to do a couple of laps on his ZX10R and they said it was too loud, it had the stock exhaust...figures!

holy cow, I guess it was smart to move over here... 4 laps for 56 Euro isn't too bad but they're getting really silly about the noise. A few years from now only bicycles meet their requirements
In the mid '90s most (if not all) guys changed their exhaust/mufflers right there and put the legal stuff back on before they left the track.... oh well....good old days....

95 isn't that hard. I'm just running big long glasspacks on my sidepipes and am under that.
Pretty much the only people who get sent away for excessive noise are those revving in the parking lot and doing WOT launches at the gate. Just keep it down while entering the track and you'll be fine. The prices are pretty decent if you keep in mind that one lap equals about 10 min of track time.
Hockenheim is open to the public on some days, too. They charge 12 Euros for 15 min.
Interest has nothing to do with it. The tracks here are NOT open to the public..wtf am I going to do about that? I'm not going to pay 15000 or so to rent the track.
Anyway, I have it mocked up, upper arm in place. The mounts are just rough cut outs. Need to finish them but clamped in place to get the proper geometry. This is why I made the upper arm like it is, it beautifully clears the shock. The cantilever setup was just too much work.

Tracks here for the most part are not open to the public either. You have to find a club like the one i'm in that rents the track for a day or 2 and splits the cost between members.
Relax, Not pushing you. Just informing. I guess you won't be coming by my house when you get here.
TT I demand you patent these designs and make a kit and sell it worldwide. I want a TT designed suspension system on my vette!
The instructions are going to say :"estimated installation time 4-5 years, cannot be completed with normal hand tools. Required special tools are not available at any store, for any installation related questions call the TT helpdesk, for all other issues during the installation call your therapist"
Marck do you find the springs loose on the shocks. While the springs say 2 1/2 inch id they are actually 2 5/8th so the spring is free to move on the washer top and bottom. While this 1/8th difference doesn't seem like much is sure seems to make a difference if you push the spring to one side or not.
I did check with a supplier and he said all the 2 1/2 inch springs are oversize. Just bugs me that it isn't a better fit.
Norval, I've mentioned that before. Your springs are afco and they are 2&5/8th on the inside, however ONLY those yellow AFCOs are like that and they are designed for the afco threaded adjuster that is for a 2&5/8th spring. Your pro shocks, like my carrera use 2,5" adjusters. My springs are hypercoils and they are not loose, they are very tight. I think I even mentioned that when you were ordering the springs as something to keep an eye on. Check out the AFCO website, I'm 99.9999% certain they mention it that their springs are 2&5/8th ID.
I'm a cheap bastard The 5 bar (Guldstrand) costs 2100$? The greenwood...wouldn't know..is it still for sale? Anyway, I have a fraction of that in my setup. It's just a little more than the cost of the rod ends...that's all.
I'm on the other side of the ocean, getting parts takes forever, building it yourself is fun. anyone can write a cheque and pay for something...I like to do stuff the hard way When I'm done I can honestly say I built 90% of the entire car myself.

Its not fair to know how to make your rear setup. After I get rid
of the T-bird slow mobile I want your rear end set up bad. do you
have good theft insurance I'm guessing you are in Germany I will
find some HOODLUM to steal it for me and ship it to Texas. Can
you tell me where you garage your car.
