This is a good point. When you remove the studs, you can pull off the resovoir and switch it if it is slightly different.
You will probably find that the larger stud is metric in the resevoire and your stud is SAE. I got 2 rebuilt pumps and they both had metric threads in only that location. You will have to buy the correct stud or you will cross thread it. Jim Shea pointed out that the later models had the metric stud. It seems that all replacements are metric; even if you ask for the earlier year model pump.
