On my 81 I was checking the brakes on the left rear. With the car up on jacks, grabbing the top and bottom of the tire I was able to wiggle the tire. Not so much in and out but pull at the top and push at the bottom would make the wheel wiggle. The right rear does not have this problem. When looking at the back side of the tire, pushing and pulling on the tire, that the u joint flange, spindle and half shaft follow. There is also a little play in the trailing arm also. Is this a reuslt of the bearings, or should there be play there. As far as the trailing arm, could this be a result of bad bushings.
Had the same kind of play on the right rear of my '79.
I was hoping that it was only the side differential yoke, but complete trailing arms and differential later I know better.
There are a few good posts on the differential side yoke end play on the forum.
Not that you need all thhat stuff, but if the trailing arm has play in it, you'll probably at least need bushings, your frame is in good shape at the TA pickup point right.
