Default Bolts Stuck - I'm Stumped

Need suggestions (tricks) for removing the rear caliper bolts on my '80. I think they have NEVER been removed. Very froze and I've tried WD40.

After reefing on it for 20 minutes I nearly head-butted the rear quarter panel!!

I need help..

Put away the WD-40 - Go to your local auto parts store and get some of this. Then let it sit for about 20 min.

Advance Auto Parts stocks it in my area.

even better than that is aero kroil
actually creeps up the rusty threads and eats the rust away.

Do you have an impact wrench? If not, get one. Worth it's weight in gold.

Kroil is the stuff...wd40 is a lubricant... not a penetrating oil

If your going to use an impact be careful of the angle. If your not dead on you can round the head in a blink. What works best for me is a 1/2 drive 5/8 sorta semi deep ball swivel socket.Snap-On #IPL20A I dont have many snap-on tools but this is a good one.I keep 3 on hand because I break them and wear them out but return them under warranty..I use it for most of the 5/8 bolts on the car.It seems to be perfect for the rear caliper bolts for all the complications you encounter getting a 1/2" impact in back there in the confined space.

Sounds like you need to start pumping iron at the gym

Did you put the box end of your wrench on on the bolt and hit the wrench with a hammer?

Shouldn't be working on a old car without Kroil in my opinion.

I'll try this with one of the pen oils above. I'll keep everyone "posted"

Whatever you use (impact or regular socket) make it a six point socket. 12 point will round it in a blink!!!!

actually, WD-40 is a water dispersant. it does pretty good as a metal protectant, but is not a very good lubricant.

How many times do I have to bust this myth?

I've posted the links too many times, a search for wd-40 or wd40 will turn them up. Long story short...WD-40 is a water dispersant...and a rust inhibitor...and a lubricant.
