Does anyone have experience with either of these kits (or fuel injection kits in general)? Also, does anyone have any idea of what kind of fuel economy gains (if any) I can expect by converting to fuel injection...?
Do a search on Fuel Injection conversion. There are posts on throttle body conversions, Tuned-Port, LT1, and LS engines. Fuel economy depends on many factors. My '83 K20 truck went from the stock 350 to a '91 L98 TPI Corvette engine and 13-14mpg city to 17+, but now I have to burn Premium fuel where before I ran 87. LT1s and Vortec head conversions may allow for fuel with less octane with a given comprerssion ratio.
To answer your question, I have no personal experience with the Holley system. There are some here who do, particulary on big-blocks I believe. Fuel injection in general is a good thing on a stock-type engine.
I am just about ready to fire up my 950-22s for the first time. Really nice and easy install...hardest part was upgrading the fuel system. For some really good info goto chevytalk.com then go to the forums and scroll way down to fuel injection section (seems 75% of threads are about Holley fuel injection). You could also get a hold of forum member Zwede, he posts here and on chevytalk quite a bit.
