Rockers and pushrods for vortec heads
I am in the process of building an engine with Vortec heads. The guides and springs are limited to .525 lift. My cam is only .454/.480. I was thinking about going with the 1.6 roller tip rockers. I know that I will need to drill the pushrod hole so that the pushrod will not rub, but will a 1.6 ratio rocker work with the vortec head and stock valve covers?
Secondly, what type and size pushrods will I need for the 1.6 ratio rocker? If I stay with the 1.5 ratio rocker, what size will I need?

If there was no work done to these heads I would double check the valve spring retainer to valve seal clearence. I just had mine done. The stock lift is 0.420 with 0.030 seal clearence. My lift is .468/.480 I also had screw in studs installed so I can use guide plates. The 1.6 should not be a problem with the valve covers.I have 1.6 roller tip in my 77 stock covers

From what I've seen and heard, roller tipped rockers are no better than stamped steel rockers. Full roller is the only way to go, if you want any benefit. What springs are you going to use? I suggest the $25 z28 springs because of your cam. The knuckleheads that f'd and I have to sue used the HD Z28 springs and the inner springs on em ended up binding. Had the regular Z28 springs put in and tada, no problems at all.
Not sure on the pushrod length, sorry.

I'm not sure what springs are on them. I just bought them, but haven't received them yet. The springs are supposed to be good to approx. .600 lift. They were completely rebuilt about 1000 miles ago, and the guides have been cut to allows for a .525 lift cam.
The only reason that I was looking at the roller tip was mainly for less wear. Did you run 1.6 ratio rockers or did you stay with the 1.5?

I'm using the stock rockers that came with the heads from the factory. I'm not going for a huge build yet and my cam is only .442/.465 and 214/224 so didn't need a lot.
