Alwyn678,

You could set up a tidy little business doing this for others. I have always felt a little embarrassed about the lousy quality of Corvette carpets. I loved the Wilton in my Jags! I dreamed of using Wilton carpet in my 69. Cutting to fit as you have done.

I wimped out with everything else in my restoration/customization being such a project. I just want to get the car done and back on the road in a finished state! However, I did have my carpet made up with better grade material from the C5's. Similar to, but still short of, the tight, close crop of the Wilton. Your carpet must truly be a joy to see!

I'd like to have a look at those pics too if you don't mind. My son is an apprentice motor trimmer and will soon be doing my carpet too. Any help would be appreciated. Brutus72@hotmail.com

Thanks

Al,
Where can I find this type of carpet?
What retail sources do you suggest?
Roughly how much carpet is required to do the job?
Was there any sewing involved other than the heel pad?
What type of adhesive did you use?
Any other tips / suggestions?

Thanks for sharing with us.

Any Upholstry shop should be able to provide you with carpet.....I used a standard 3m spray adhesive to lay it down....It is very tacky and works well especially on the doors in the rear.... the trickiest part is cutting the carpet for the doors.....but just take off the old measure cut and then lay...It is really not as hard as you think.....when I went to the upholstry shop the guy looked at the car and just guesstimated the amount.......a few yards.....you do need a few razorblades to cut the carpet though

I had a friend that made his own carpets but they looked awful. My question is how did you manage to contour the carpet to match the curves of the floor, did you cut and sew the pieces or did you have to streched. And also would you please also send me your pictures.

Like many others I ordered carpet from ACC, and was dissapointed. My '77 desrves better! Did you use a steamer to mold it? Is the carpet you installed auto carpet? Was it very stiff and difficult to mold? If you would please.. send me some pics. I am about to undertake the same carpet install this week and am looking for an excuse "not" to put in that paper thin stuff from ACC. I can still send it back. Thanks so much!
