Default Whats the third wire for?

I am trying to get my alarm on my 76 working. Previous owner pulled both door switches. I got new switches and See a blue and white wire to plug into the new switches but there is a third (i think brown) wire, on the driver side it goes to a screw in the body just above the hole for the wires, on the pass side it is just cut. Anyone know what the wire is for? None of my wiriing diagrams show the wires for the alarm?
Thanks for the help.

Are these switches in the door jamb by the hinges?
The reason I ask is it sounds like by the wire color your describing the door ajar switches. In earlier years the threads on the switch did not need to be grounded but at some point that was changed and there was a wire with a screw that was added. If these are the switches at the rear of the door and you want to work on your alarm just pull the switches and leave the wires ungrounded doors open-the white wires are your alarm grounding wires-the lt blue ones are for the door ajar light in the dash.Ground the white wires for each door to simulate opening the door and triggering the alarm. This way you dont have to open and close doors.

I have wiring diagrams for 71' and 78'. The 71' shows the white wires are the door jam light switchs but doesn't show anything for the Antitheft. The 78' shows white wires for door light switch and light blue for ALL the antitheft switches (roof, doors, hood etc). There is no brown wire shown anywhere in the Antitheft circuit.

Let us know where these switches are located. If they are jamb switches then the 3rd wire on the drivers side is the key buzzer. It should not be grounded but someone might have used it as a ground source because the switch wasnt grounding to the jamb for some reason.

on my 76 there are two sets of switches on each door. One by the hinge is for the courtesy lights and onde by the latch for the alarm. The one by the latch for the alarm is the one i am trying to figure out. There are two wires for the switch, white and blue that come from the harnes behind the seats that go into a grommet to the switch but there is also a wire coming out of the same hole and on my driver side it goes to a screw just above the hole like it is a ground, but i think that is just fiberglass, on my pass side the wire is cut and is not attached to anything. So I am trying to figure out what the two extra wires are for? seems odd, I dont have the original switches , the ones I just picked up from the corvette store only have two attachments (the white and blue for the alarm).

There is a wire that comes from the plate that the switch screws into.It is there to ground the plate.Does this sound right?
