Ok, its for my Buick- not the vette.
I bought a New one from Napa and it had the two plastic plugs with 2 hoses. These 2 plugs fit right in perfectly and the 2 hoses are coming up and around into the brake fluid.
My problem: I have been pushing in the screwdriver very slowly (bleeding) in and out - for 15 minutes. I still see tiny bubbles coming out and I can push it in the same amount as when I started.
Does it normally take this many strokes to get all the air out?
Do you know that you are done when you can't push it in more than 1/8 "?

Don't be gentle...push it the full length till it bottoms. Tapping on the side also helps. You are done when there are no bubbles. Took me 30minutes.

It seemed like the one on the vette would get very hard to push the piston in when it was done spitting air out.
This one seem to eventually quit spitting air but the piston would not get any harder.
I also noticed a small amount of wetness at the piston bore where I was pushing it in.
I decided to mount it and bleed the brakes but it doesn't feel very good.
Could I have gotten a M/C dud?

Can you be a little more specific regarding "doesn't feel very good"? Does the pedal go to the floor, or is it spongy, etc.? Also, are you driving the car or what?

It doesn't go to the floor but it does feel a little spongy.
The brakes don't bite until a lot of pedal travel. Just drove it around the block to test.

Typical symptoms when air is present in the system. Try rebleeding in the proper sequence. I always like to gravity bleed brakes as this procedure always works for me. However, it is more time consuming.
