When I decided to fill and smooth my firewall I found a lot of clumps of this stuff everywhere. Got sick of sanding it off so I thought I would try other things. Found out I could get them off, usually in one piece, with a small chisel and hammer. Just tap lightly and they pop right off!

Grinding is fastest, if you trust your hand. If you are escared that you will do more damage than good (my luck usually) use the chemical means. Paint stripper will do a pretty decent job but you need to work it slow, add the stripper, scrape off what it will give you, add more stripper and continue. Don't forget that the stripper will also soften fiberglass....

I am in the same situation, I have my C3 stripped down to the panels. I did not have alot of filler. Only over the bonding strips and a couple other areas. I am doing everything with 80 grit, it takes more time but not taking any chances.
