Side Pipes are on their Way....Color Advice?
Does anyone have a yellow C3 with side pipes and fibreglass covers? What color did you paint them? Would black look good or should I paint them the aluminum look? My wife says paint them invisible

I had these pipes/covers on previous C3s and always painted them to match the car's color. Added a nice touch. When I replace my lame L48 with a ZZ4 I will add them to this car too....and they'll be orange and black.
I'd go with yellow/black.

Binnie,
I went with the stainless steel paint from Mid-America. Next time, I'm going with aluminum for the brushed alum look. The stainless is nice, but the aluminum has a little more shine.
I agree with the rest that black would look good. Nice thing about the coves, they're easy to take off and paint again if you don't like the color.
Use high heat engine type paint. There are a couple places, close to the front where they get pretty warm. The covers are heat shields so you don't burn yourself, but they do get pretty warm where they're closer to the pipes. First time I just painted with regular paint. I got some blistering in a couple spots. Had to strip them down again, and repaint. With the high heat (300 degree or better) paint, you're fine.
Good luck, I think you'll like them.

I agree with the silver or aluminum color. When I bought my 71 War Bonnet Yellow Convertible it had sidepipes with 69 original style sidepipe covers painted black (the guy I bought the car from was the original owner and he had his dealer install side pipes when he bought the car. When he had the car painted in the early 80's he had the covers painted black) ...I didn't like it. I don't care for sidepipes that much so I went back to undercar exhaust but if I ever do put the pipes back on I'll paint the cover silver.

Binnie, I got what your looking for. I thought about also painting mine the yellow and black, I saw a pic somewhere, don't remember where, and I painted mine the silver metalic with black and then clear coated them. It takes time to tape off but if you get "good" tape, such as fine line for taping flames, you don't get any bleed thru. Let me know if ya need and advice I'll see if I can help, good luck.
