Here's the deal; when I bought my car, the horn, interior lights and power antena (sp?) did not work. In checking the obvious, i replaced the fuse-low and behold, they all worked properly. Later that night, I took the wife for her first ride. Being the gentleman that i am not, i opened the door for her. After she got in, i closed the door, and noticed the interior lights shut off immediately. When I opened the drivers door, they did not come back on. Horn did not work, nor did the antena. Of couse the fuse was blown again. Since then I have been using the "Bubba Method" and bought a supply of fuses and have to replace it about three times a month. I've established that the problem is with the passengers door light switch (Button) i should advise my car has been repainted in the past (before I got it) I'm wondering if there is a ground that may not be connected, or if the switch itself is the ground and not properly being connected due to the repaint. Or should I just replace the switch. Any advise would greatly help.
PS, the "not" part was a Borat joke, for those of you that have seen the movie.
Boy, dont I feel stupid!!!!! Thats exactly why I hang out on this forum. That was way to obvious for me to figure out. Thanks, I'll give that a shot. Good tip
The door switches switch a ground, so it can't be that, its the switches JOB to connect that wire to ground and turn the light on. My bet would be the light timer behind the pass side dash.
All the door switches can do is drain the battery if they fail. The short lies elsewhere, but not likely the timer. It gets it's power from the gauges fuse, I believe. Many things are on that circuit, such as cigarette lighter, glove box light, clock, all interior lights, the factory alarm, vanity mirror lights, spare tire light, horn relay, antenna relay, door locks. My money goes on the right door lock actuator or wiring, if you have that option.
Yes, only the passengers side causes it to blow out. the delay works properly unless the passengers door gets shut, then it blows the fuse right away.
The delay either works or it doesn't. Seems yours works. Try just pushing the lite switch button by hand with the door open. Maybe like G stated it's the door lock, maybe something in the door loose when you slam the door.
Strange question. Do you have an aftermarket radio? A popular hookup seems to be the cig lighter wire. Maybe something hot got connected to the grounded door switch wire. Door opens, wire grounds, misconnected hot blows the fuse. Just trying to determine if Bubba has been around.
No aftermarket radio, or power locks. I have never even thought to check the cigarette lighter. I have tried pushing the button in by hand several times, without it blowing the fuse (But it doesnt always blow when I shut the door either) So maybe it is something loose?

I had the same problem, which I also thought was the door switch. It turned out to be the cigarette lighter. I figured it out putting in an after market stereo. Disconnect the lighter and see if that solves the problem!!!
I had a similar problem with mine and after tearing the entire car apart and following a wiring diagram I found that there was a lose wire in the center console and that was causing the fuse to blow. Good luck
