76 brake caliper colour?
Hope I've got the right forum for this question
What colour were the brake calipers originally on my '76?
Currently they're a nice combination of brown and sky blue, but I'm about to re-paint them. Should they be grey?
If anybody has any photos of the correct shade on their calipers I'd be really grateful to see them. I'm not bothered about painting them a bright red. I don't need them to stand out particularly.
Thanks,
Ben

I purchased replacement caliper halves from a Chevy dealer in 1976 and they were bare steel... so my guess is "rust" color.

Don't see many buckskin calipers around these parts.

Bunch of smart a$$es.
Use cast iron color caliper or high temperature paint for a "correct look".

Had the original calipers on my low mile Pace Car sleeved and rebuilt last year. From the factory they were black, more flat than satin. Repainted them flat black(they came back gray) and then kinda buffed em up with a clean rag.

Everyone's a comedian. Calipers on C3s were semi gloss black from the factory.
