actually these are all before pictures...my $20 camera isn't the best but it sure is a work horse.....

I work on an Army base that will be closed as a result of the recent Base realignemnt and Closure committe meetings. Last week our HR people from Washington up came and made some pretty good offers to leave early ... so i have to make this engine install happen soon and get ready to move.... i have a son who will start high school in the fall and if we can make it all happen we are seriously contemplating moving in the summer....so i have alot to do with this and in general to get the house ready to sell....

Black is universally accepted. Fast, easy, and salable.

Looks good, i always liked working with fiberglass.
No heater blower box? or did that come in the basket of goodies with the car?
After doing my frame off I don't want to touch another wire wheel or paint brush for at least 5 years.

Where are you moving to? any options? go south so you can enjoy the vert.
You lugging the hot rod with you?
Let me know if you need any help on the weekends

thanks for the offer of help.....we will go some where south...the Mrs is from Arlington VA....and you know what they say...."if Momma ain't Happy ain't nobody happy" so we may go back there....it's not a big deal we lived there for 15 yrs about 12 yrs ago so we know the area and schools and we both have family members who live there. we are still weighing all options. yes the hotrod and the 2 vettes will go with us as long as we have room for them , if not one will go into storage somewhere until space is freed up. the heater box and blower motor are the only missing parts and i thnk i may just "blank" those off.

heres tonights work....i painted the inner fender wells and fire wall with satin black...tomorrow night i paint the frame with gloss black...it really does look good the pictures are just crappy

Sounds good.

What paint are you using on the frame? you going to wire brush the surface rust off then paint? I used POR-15, great stuff but takes time to properly prep.

How great is it to have the tilt front end to work on the engine compartment? do you have to bend over so your head doesn't hit the front end or does it totally clear you while working on the engine compartment? Can you tell I'm jealous?

you don't hit anything...the nose tilts all the way forward and you can actually stand with one leg in between the tire and inner fender..this is with the wheels pointing straight...i will take a picture later tonight...its really cool to work on.

Nice to sit on the tire and detail the engine compartment without having to bend over isn't it! Got to yank them headers out of there, sandblast them and paint them with header paint.

well tonights work, i pulled the radiator and Power steering pump.....i would like to pull the headers out but i may not have time to pull them. the headers are Hooker super competiton, heres me standing in front of the tire! and yes sitting on the tire with both feet on either side of the A arm is kind of fun.....

started at 10am and declared victory at 2:30pm.....one motor mount took about 45 minutes of massaging.....it went very well we took several breaks to make sure we didn't screw anything up, and generally had a lot of fun. i will continue each night after the family goes to sleep, I now can go back and finish the detailing at my leisure and get all the rest of the spots that we had to skip over,

Great job !!!!! That is going to be a sweet ride.

What about the heater box and blower motor ? I removed mine because the heater leaked and the motor didn't work.... I just posted a photo of my firewall with two fiberglass covers for the holes today....
