Default Big inch small block formula

Does anyone know what parts to buy to build a 427 or larger small block. I would like it on the more performance side as I only drive it on the weekends.

I would start with getting an aftermarket World Motown or Dart Little M block that you could take to 427, 434 o4 454

Those Motown blocks are great. Do a google search and read up on them.

Thanks for the info. Any suggestions on what combo of stroke and rod size that works best?

I would use the dart iron eagle 9.325 deck block with the big block
size cam bearings. Cam location is raised in the block, allows you to
run longer rods. You can get it with small block cam size if thats what
you want.

My 427 is getting built now. Kind of wished I had gone with a raised deck/cam block too and gone for a few more cubic inches, but there are additional costs when you do that I think. Here is my parts list if your interested

427 (4.125" bore, 4" stroke) Dart Little M block
Scat I beam 4340 polished rods with 7/16" bolts (700-750 hp)
Scat 4" 4340 crank
Mahle pistons
Hamburger #1088 oil pan for 4" stroke (not sure it fits yet, but I'm told it will)
Comp cams solid roller lifters
Comp cams solid roller cam (630/630; 252/258 dur. @ .050)

Comp cams steel roller rockers
AFR 210 elim heads
Stud girdles
SFI dampner
Wiend Team G. water pump

Kind of wished I had gone with the 227 AFR elim heads, but for any street use, they recommend shaft rockers and they are more expensive.

Going with an EFI intake setup. And Hooker sidepipes (if they fit).

I built a 434 years ago, like 2000, I used a stock GM block from a '76 Monte, Trick flow crank, ultradyne cam ~.500 lift 108 LSA, AFR 210 heads.
5.875" rods to keep the wrist pin out of the compression rings.
I did go with splayed main caps, but that really wasn't necessary.
It runs a 750 demon on an RPM airgap.
I put it through a th400 shifting at 5800 rpm

I got 460 hp / 500 ft/lbs. puts me at about 11.90 @118 in the 1/4

a 100 shot will put me deep into the 11's, enough to get me kicked off any NHRA track for not having a rollbar.

Was that 460/500 at the wheels? I would hope so unless you had a tiny cam in it.

I would love to trap 118mph with an auto. 118mph is good for 11.30-11.40s with a good 60', 330'.

Did you run that 11.90 or was that an estimate...?

Are you planning on running pump gas or is race gas ok?

My build is 14.2 : 1 compression and requires 112 octane leaded fuel.. I'm still using 23 degree heads and the output is estimated to be aroun 700 HP on engine and 950 HP on spray..

Here are the specs..

The engine isn't installed yet...

That was 460hp at the crank.

Here's the dyno graph
yes it's a small cam

The cam is;
239 duration @.050
.507" lift
108 degree Lobe Seperation

the 11.90 was at the track, the car needs some tuning work, I'm not completely sure the secondaries are even opening up all the way.

My 60' was 1.79, (tight converter)
