I have a 77 L-82 where the "Switch-Vacuum Water Valve Control" no longer functions and kicks a "ton" of hot air into both the passenger and driver areas. i've checked with the local corvette place and have faced "no joy." anyone out there know where i can find one? i can handle the "heat" but it makes it uncomfortable for my wife and anyone else sitting in the passenger seat. all replies are welcomed.

You know, I don't even have my heater hooked up. the hose is bypassed at the water pump. But in the summer, with the vette running at 190 degrees, my feet still burn up through the firewall. Any fixes here???

Lots of threads in the archives on dealing with cabin heat.

Get a thick piece of foam and wrap it over the transmission at the tunnel opening. That blocks the hot air from going down the tunnel and directs it under the car.

Cut both heater hoses and install water cuttoffs. This will eliminate the heat in the cabin during summer months. Open them in the winter when heat is needed. Works great and is a cheap fix.

I find that a properly operating vacuum water valve works quite well, and lets you use the heater on those cool summer mornings.
Most control valves, even new ones do not completely close on the
C3s. Also the vent door in the rigt side pillar will stay open . Those valves are expensive and hard to find. I blocked mine shut. Also look for any holes in your firewall no matter how small and seal them. These things made my cabin comfortable!

I used a water control water from a Ford Ranger that allows the water to the heater core or diverts it so it does not enter the heater core. This way the water in the heater core will not conduct heater from the non flowing heated water. As it turned out the major source of heat was from the engine compartment leaking into the cowl area and into the air flowing through the heater/cooling box. Replaced the weatherstripping under the hood that seals to the front of the cowl area and the heat went away.
