What color is your intake manifold?
I am replacing my intake manifold gasket and while I have all that apart I am going to do some painting. Mine is silver, as are all the brackets attached to the manifold, but it was obviously either originally painted (or repainted) while on the car, and I can see that it originally had an undercoat of the blue engine color. The whole thing was rather crappily painted.
I think I'm going to repaint it the silver it is supposed to be. I was just wondering why there would be engine colored paint under that silver.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Captain Chaos, mine looks like it was originally blue and was painted by someone. I know the factory paint work wasn't always the best back then, but I don't know why they would paint the manifold while on the car.

CFOT Attention Whore
mine was orginally silver, or bare aluminum to be more accurate. it, as well as the valve covers, had hints of blue overspray that i believe to be factory. since i've been associated with this car since 1984, i have a good bead on the history, and i don't believe the original owner painted anything so that blue overspray probably came from st. louis.
