Default Need help on Engine small Parts!

Hi, My cam on my 81 puked & I took this opportunity to order a 396 small block stroker shortblock. Today, I ordered a set of AFR 195 eliminators & Lunati hydraulic roller cam with .530" 230/238 & 112 lc. I already have Weiand Stealth Manifold & Demon Street Carb. I will get the pan with the short block. What else should I get, this is a little of a budget motor. I was thinking a set of roller rockers, a double roller timing set & a little fancy harmonic balancer, but I have no idea what I should be looking at. As you can see, this should be a street motor & not a strip machine. Please give me some hints on the parts to finish it off. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

AFR's? Roller cam? Stroked?...budget motor?

Since you're in the market for a harmonic, Jeg's sells a line under their own name that are SFI and supposed to be good to 15,000 RPM,..about $150 as I recall.

Good luck!

The 396 Short Block is going to be $2900 all forged, with a new GM block that has the machining for the factory roller lifters, which I think I have in another core. I did splurge on the AFR's !!!!! But isn't that a "near necessity"???? Thanks!

I like the roller rockers as they tend to lower oil temps a bit. Don't forget timing chain cover, good water pump.
