What is the popular and comfortable aftermarket seats that fit a C3? I've been searching to find a place local that sells seats to try, but there's really nothing within 2 hours. The closest place I can find is south of Boston. They deal with Recaro and Cobra seats. If anyone can recommend someone they've dealt with in the New England/New York area I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Find a used car lot with a 2001 area Toyota Celica and see if you like the cloth sport GT seats. I put some in my '77 and I love them.

Shipped to my door for $111.

Just about any of the newer model seats also fit....c4, c5, c6. There are a bunch of folks on here and also other forums that have put c5 seats in their c3. Just pm me if you like the idea and you don't find any of the old posts. I personally want to put the c5 seats in mine but they are currently out of my budget.

I got a set of good condition C5 Z06 seats for reasonable price, put them in and really like em. Well less than half the cost of new leathers, foam and fixing shells of my stock 79 seats. I would have rather got the C5 sport seats, but needed seats and the Z06 seats were a good deal I couldn't pass up for now.

I'm currently in the process of replacing the seats in my '81 with a pair of Corbeau GTS II black leather seats that I bought from SpeedDirect. I'm just waiting until I receive my new seat belts later this week before I install the seats. It's a tight fit but they are really an improvement over the originals for someone with back issues like my wife and me. I also had the manual lumbar supports installed under the leather for extra back support.
If you call Corbeau, they will tell you where your closest dealer is. I actually have one right here in my town and was able to sit in a number of different models to try them out before I ended up purchasing them.

I went from the stock '76 seats to the '82 seats and then the C5 seats like Martinsw has. C5 seats are the way to go. If you don't have to have the sport seats you can get a nice set for about $500. Here is a link to a C5 ad with stock and Recaro seats for sale.

I don't know the year of your vette but if you have an early C3 I would replace the seats w/a later C3 seat. I have driven early C's and my 79 seats (new foam and covers) are very comfortable over the early seats.
Try parts f/s or swap meets for late model C3 or C4 C5 seats G/L

Please post some pics if you can, once the installation has been completed. Would like to see where the tight fit is. Thank You.

You have to mount them to your stock C3 brackets. You could use the C5 brackets, but than they would be too high up.

I'm moving along with my Corbeau GTS II seat installation on my '81 (had to wait until I received my new seat belt/shoulder harnesses so I could install them first) and have run into an issue. I'm hoping that someone on this forum can answer a question for me. The seats look fine, the sliders came straight from Corbeau and the 'special' mounting bracket assemblies came directly from SpeedDirect. I purchased the seats from them because they offered a lower mounting bracket assembly than would come standard from Corbeau. My question is... now that I have both seats out of the car, I've noticed that the entire driver seat track assembly is completely different from the one on the passenger seat. I can match up the floor pan mounting holes from the new seat brackets to the holes on the old passenger seat but on the driver's seat, the floor pan mounting holes are not only a lot closer together (almost in a square pan rather than a rectangle) but also the sliders sit on top of brackets that are more than 2" high whereas the passenger side is totally flat. Is this the way it should be in an '81... or is this just another case of someone having taken liberties somewhere along the line before I bought the car and did a 'home-made' special? I've adjusted the new bracket assemblies every possible way and there's no way I can match the driver's seat up. The interesting part is that I don't see a hole in the floor pan that would match up in line with the respective hole on the passenger's side. That's what is throwing me. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
