Default Backup Lights

The backup lights on my '71 automatic don't work. The bulbs are OK. Where is the fuse? And if the fuse is OK, where else could the problem be? I've been through three different service manuals and I'm still not able to locate the problem.
Thanks as always.

Check your back-up switch. Probably at shifter.

Thanks, dannyman.
Do you know where the fuse is located? None of the fuses in the box underneith the steering wheel indicate backup lights.

I had the same problem with my 71 auto. It was the backup switch inside of the center console. Not sure where the fuse is.
