How much vaccum should I have while idiling? 290hp 350 Chevrolet crate engine. Edelbrock 600cfm, weiand intake, cam specs-222/222 and .450 intake / .460 exhaust.
Would the cam make the vaccum gauge needle move any?
It all depends on the cams LSA. Yes the cam is a big factor in vacuum.
I have a huge solid lifter cam and I have little vacuum, I had to use a vacuum canister to store some vacuum so my power brakes could still work. I get a few pumps of the brakes while the engine is at idle.
You can probably look up specs for a stock cam and compare to what you have.
That is a pretty mild cam. I would expect 14 to 18 degrees depending on timing. I have about 8 to 9 degrees with a duration of 252/260 @ .050 in a 385 ci.
