Too narrow for an 8" rim .

Tirerack shows most of those size tires fitting a 6-8" rim width with 6.5" being optimal. Also a little taller than stock at 27.6". Also, none of the tire in that size at Tirerack are what I would call performance tires.

I don't think the measurement at Tire Rack is "optimal" -
I think it's just what they measure the section width with.

I have 8.5 inch wide aftermarket wheels on the front
of my Supra and the stock 235 width is recommended.

The 8 inch wheels on C3s came with ~225 tires originally -
I don't think the lower aspect ratio of the 60s would
create problems.

That's actually better - pretty close to stock height.

Default Hmm...

The only thing siily is that they have raised YELLOW letters...
Goodyear's ..... but I already own them.......Hmm.
Tempting. to get some of those 17" rally wheels.. I wonder how crasy My car would look..

White 77/ raised YELLOW letter tires and 17" rally wheels... Might not mix well....

Turn the letters in 17" wheels look better w/black wall tires. but if your going to do that sell them & buy a wider tire that will look & perform better on the vette. yellow letter tires are worth $$ now I think G-Y stop making them..

OK, but in my opinion, still too small for an 8" rim. You can get a 225/70R15 on a stock 8" rim because the 70 series sidewall has more flex. The 55 series has a lot less flex. Do you really want to chance it?

You can get Kumho Ecsta SPT in a 255/50R17 from the Tirerack for $114 each. Ranked 6 out of 44 ultra high performance summer tires at Tirerack. Why skimp?

Tire Rack shows that 225/55 17 will fit 8" rim & height slightly shorter.
255/50 17 would be very good for 17s.

77 size was 225/70 15. 235/60 15 - 255/60 15 fit the rim better. The 255/60 15s that became available later were an appearance option.
