Since I have had my '72, the park lights have never worked. The interior lights used to not work but after replacing the headlight switch, they work fine, but still no parklights. Turn signals work fine, headlights fine. One more thing, the green indicators on the dash are on all the time when the headlights are on (and they do flash when the turn signals are activated). I decided to replace the switch again thinking maybe there was a chance I had gotten a bad one; I still have the same situation.
If the turn signals still work, it couldn't be a fuseable link could it? Those lights would not do anything if the fuseable link was blown I wouldn't think. I am at a total loss on this. Anyone with similiar experience I would love to hear from them. Thanks
sounds like you have bad grounds on you parking lite assemblies , it could be bad sockets but sounds more like the grounds are bad or left off that is why the signal indicators are lit when parking lights are on because you are getting feadback thru the signal bulbs that is figuring that you have the proper double filimante bulbs in place ,i think the bulb is 1157A,good luck
I will chase down the grounds..........yes, I do have the proper double filament bulbs, wish it was that easy............. Thanks for the inputs...........
The fact that your turn signal lights on the dash are on when the headlights are on, leads me to agree with babylonvette. You have bad bulbs, bad sockets or bad ground. I wouldnt rule out the bulbs to easily. Ive seen bulbs that appear to be ok cause problems. Pop some new one in there just to rule them out.
Well, it was the grounds, in a way. It was those rubber plugs that go from what I would call the end of the wire harness up front, and plug into another rubber plug, whose wires continue on to the light sockets. The ground blades in those plugs on both sides had slipped outside their intended slot targets and so weren't making any contact at all! Once I corrected that they began working perfectly, what a relief. Cannot thank you all enough for pointing me to the grounds!

Glad you found your problem.I've been doing away with that connector on most cars.Seems like if I dont the problem keeps coming back.
