Something to consider, if you do alot of highway driving, a 308 is perfect. I've got a 355 now, and on the highway i'm taching about 3000 rpms at 70 mph, which is too high for a torque motor, which is what v8s are. uncomfortable, but it really grabs the pavment, and I'm running a wimpy L48 stock but have a m20 4sp. I am planning to move to a 308 in a couple of years when I can afford it, but try the vehicle at 3000 rpm or higher on the highway for an extended period and see if you can live with it. since all the finale drives are 1:1 you will see similar results.

Im running a ZZ-383 with a 3.08 rear gear, I went with a 200-R4 (4spd auto)trans to which Ive been told will work great with this engine trans and rear gearing. will see soon after I finaly get it on the road again...

I'm running a 385 with about 500 HP and a 3.70 rear. The 3.55 will definitly wake the car up. 3.08s in an automatic will be sleepy off the line. If you do highway cruising and tha tis what you want 3.08s are OK. If you want stoplight performance than go 3.55s or better. I am running a overdrive trans so my final ratio even with 3.70s is 2.51 in OD.

Default change gears

Gordonm thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories when you mention stop light. Brings back days when I use to hang out on the main drag watching the muscle cars do the light to light racing.
Think I will keep the 3.08s since I can't find the main drag stop lights.
anymore .lol

I started this thread recently...http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1885656

I have an original TH350 and 3.08 gear ratio. I have decided to go with a 3.73 gear ratio in the differential and also go with the 200r4 overdrive trans. The overdrive trans will keep my RPM's down and the 3.73 gear ratio will hopefully pin me in my seat If you read my thread, you'll see that I went back and forth between which transmission I wanted and which gear ratio I wanted - it required a lot of thinking on my part. If you need some help, just give me a shout.
