Default What is this on my 1980?

I have this vacuum hose coming out of this device, and it goes into my charcoal can ...... If this is the VAC SENSOR (as shown on an 81' emissions diagram), it should go into vacuum source on rear of carb....

The device has electrical connection on other side.

I am removing all the vacuum lines from canister with exception of fuel tank and think that this one doesn't even belong there .....

Why does the TC lockup switch have a vacuum line to charcoal canister?

I guess I am asking if there is another source that I can use instead of canister ?

Look under the hood and you will see a vacum diagram. That switch is on it.I think it can be switched, but after reading the diagram you will have your answer.

Its probably supposed to be manifold vacume, but could have been picked up at the canister. OR, Bubba hooked you up sometime in the past and rerouted it.

It is correct. It's just picking up a close vacuum source. It's tee'd to a line that feeds the canister.

Default Manifold Vacuum?

So just T it off a straight manifold vacuum source and it will work fine?

Does anyone know what the switches function is????

If you are still using the stock 1980 transmission (T350C) it is one of the things controlling when the torque convertor locks and unlocks. Under hard acceleration when little vacuum is present it will unlock the convertor or prevent it from locking. Under cruise conditions when vacuum is high it will allow the convertor to lock. I would leave it the way it is unless you plan on removing the charcoal canister.

Since canister is going away, should I T it onto something like the vac advance port or full manifold vacuum?
