Does anyone know the proper sequence to adjust t-tops. I'm just looking to get the spacing more aligned between the halves and front to back. The 1972 Service Manual is not that very clear and the reference figure - Fig 80 - is incorrect as it reflects a covertable top. Thanks
Ward,
You're right, great help in fig.80.
There are 4 points to adjust . The 2 in the center birdcage bar, both the receivers in the bar and the 'tongues' in the roof panel. There are plastic bushings in the 2 receivers in the bar and special shims for the 2 'tongues'. Then there is the guide pin in the front corner. Since the receiver for this pin can't be moved, all adjustment has to be in the pin, including shimming it. Last is the rear corner 'wedge', there is a little adjustment in the wedge that mounts to the body, and a little in the receiver in the rear corner of the top panel.
I see some panels that fit pretty good and some that fit pretty poorly. I very rarely see panels that fit great. I think the most important point is the outside rear corner and how the top flows into the body at that point. The top usually protrudes out to far.
GOOD LUCK!!!
Regards,
Alan
They fit much better however, I could not bring them in much from the outside rear corners. note: I found a 11/16" socket worked well for rotating the tri-wedge. I would liked to have reduced the gap in the center closer than ~1/4". I worked with just the panels only.
