I hope someone can help me with this issue. Today, I was driving my 1971 Coupe and the turn signals stopped blinking. They blinked fine when I started my drive but about 10 mins later, they just stopped the blinking (they just stay illuminated). I have done a visual check of all the bulbs and everything seems to check out.
Has anyone had this issue? If so, what was the resolution?
Very simple fix, replace the signal flasher. It's on the passenger side, clipped behind the dash knee pad. Get on your back on the floor over there, and look up under with a flashlight. You'll be looking for one of these, with a two wire pigtail, clipped to the back of the knee pad. You can get a new one at any local parts store. Just ask the counter what part number is for your year car.
If your is stock, it should also have a capcitor (condensor) accross it, with little copper leaves that fit over the flasher leads. try removing the flasher, removing the cap (take note as to which lead goes where, it needs to be installede the way it was, it's polarity sensative) and pluging the flasher in by itself, the cap can go bad and short, leading to the condition your talking about.
