Default Trick Flow Heads

I'm looking at these heads. The guy say's that they are Trick Flows 23 degree heads. I was told to stay away from the twisted wedge heads. I want to make sure that these are the 23 degree heads. Can someone verify by the following pictures as to if they are the 23 degree heads? There is no part number on the heads.

Thanks

The twisted wedge heads are 23 degree heads also. Notice the intake and exaust valves don't line up in a row, they are slightly offset. Twisted Wedge. These have been known to cause accelerated valvetrain wear due to the offset valves but they flow real well.

I'd make sure you can have a machine shop check the valve stem guide wear if they are used or at least plan on possible new guides.

Have a set on my Firebird since I bought it 3 years ago, not problems to speak off, Believe they do flow well but not at high lifts which makes them a real good mid range power head. I am running a Hot Cam with 1.5 rockers giving me about 216/226 duration and .492/.492 lift. Gets up and goes from about 3000-6000 rpm's.

No they're not. The 23 degree is the valve angle and the twisted wedge have them at different angles, and it also depends on wether you have Gen I or II TWs. On the Gen IIs the intake is I think 13 degree and the exhaust a standard 23. On the first gen the intake and exhaust were both at a different angle from stock (23) but I forgot what it was. The Gen1 TWs have geometry issues resulting in excessive valvestem and guide wear. I still have a set of those somewhere. The G2s, I dont think there are any serious problems with those. The G2s are no longer available, the standard 23 degree TF head is, also as a kenny duttweiler version.

I'm running G1 Trick Flows. They have a 13* intake and 23* exhaust.
Used them on both NA and with the blower with good results....

You're right I had it backwards. been a while since I took them off. Anyway, the G2 heads have a 16* intake / 18* exhaust valve angle.

I have the 7030-2 which are G1s with the 72 deg. center bolt angle.

Anyway, it just illustrates that they are not 23 degree heads, apart from the exh. valve on the Gen1s.

The heads performed good but started to consume oil after a while, took them apart and all the valves had pitted faces (they are stainless steel valves) and the stems and guides were worn. Replaced the guides w/ bronze and after a while the whole deal started to consume oil again. Took them off and never used them again.

Mine have only 1000 or so miles on them, but I've had no problems except the original stem seals kept pulling off the guides. I replaced them with a set from Crane and the fix was in

I tossed the valves and springs that they came with, cheap K motion stuff I think, they were set up pretty crappy too from the factory, this seems to be a problem with street heads in general, have a set of ford FE edelbrock heads and the spring installed heights were way off

I secured the guides on my heads w/ some allen set screws.

The guy gave me the serial numbers and I contacted Trick Flow. They are the Twisted Wedge G2 heads.

Thanks
