Front Seal
Anyone changed front main seal with SKF oil seal and Speedi-Sleeve from Auto Zone? part no.480177.I want to do my 76 with timing cover on .I have already changed pan gasket so i do not want to take it off.The AIM says you can do this with cover on and just removing dampner.Thanx in advance!

Nothing wrong with SKF seals. Fel-Pro is the best, but SFK is fine. The speedi-sleeve is to take care of any wear on the balancer without replacing the unit. It gives the new seal a new surface to run on. Install it carefully following the directions and it'll be fine.

Inspect your dampner first. If the rubber looks very swollen then just replace the dampner so the outer ring won't slip in the near future.
If installing the sleeve, wipe a small amount of rtv on the inside of it so that oil will not seep between it and the balancer shaft.
These repair sleeves will only last for around 20,000mi.
The brand of seal matters little.
