Default Racing photo proving body compression at high speed.

This was taken last Sat. while driving @ 150 mph on the main straight.

I do not have body lift. The Daytona front end, body rake, and rear wing is pushing my car down on the road.

This was taken by a fellow CF member and professional photographer

Great image! Was the velocity static or were you accelerating/decelerating?

That is with my foot on the floor in 5th gear. Last year I got a radar gun speed at the flag stand of 156 mph

Do you have a similar picture of the car standing still to do a comparison of heights?

nothing good. Static in the pits I have more than 3 inches of clearance front and rear. I had to raise the front end higher to keep the tires from hitting in the turns or braking.

Rolling out for practice - My rear RR slicks make the front 295/35/17 slicks look tiny. last year I could not put the power to the ground

Hey George, I'm guessing this is Fernley? Looks like fun from what I can see of it.

Those are some seriously wide rears! You could probably use the IMSA Greenwood kit to get full coverage and aero benefits, eh? The ones you mentioned will definitely help clean up the air around those "air brakes" some

Looks like fun.

It is funny that you say that because a guy came by and offer to sell me a wide body kit that has been sitting in a box for about 20 years. I never really liked the wide body look. I bought the L-88 non mud flap rears and have them in a box. Steve B. from South bay stayed at my house for the fernley race. I was hoping that he would have brought his C6 Z06 and done some lapping

I agree that the wide body is an aquired taste and it's very '80's, but it was very effective for the application. I also prefer the look your going with.

And here I was hoping they'd let me take the beast I brought out to the track...

That's right. The one in the middle. You can understand why they wouldn't let me out there... afraid of being shown up.

I thought I read somewhere that c3's suspensions were bottomed out at 100 mph and up, as opposed to the mid year cars that were just poorly designed airplanes. Didn't they rise something like 1" at speed?

over the years here on the forum you have the crowd that C-3 Vettes get light and unstable over 130 mph. I've always contended that it was old warn out parts and **** poor preparation. It is also unsafe to drive a 68 Impala with shot suspension at over 100 mph.

My lap times were slower than the race only Vettes and Vipers that showed up. But at least I'm out there trying.

I don't know if I have guts enough to drive something that I have worked on 150 mph, so you got me beat.

Awesome pic, it's impressive how low it is.

I've had a worn-out base-model '65 Mustang well over 100 before, it was still moving in a straight line. I don't recommend trying it at home.

OTM George!

The car looks great!
My 1980 surprised me last year at PIR on the main straight (before the Festival Curves) at high speed. Like you, I did have the factory stock braking gear last year. At about 120-125 it did start to get a little "fluffy." I have since made a few suspension & braking improvements for this year. We'll see how it goes...

Oh... 158!?!?! Gesh George, you got cajones my man! I topped out at around 130 and said "Okay, I'm done."

PS... We're having the Corvette Track Weekend at PIR August 2nd-4th. I know gas is spendy this year but if you could make it that'd be great cuz it's usually just me and a very sweet 1969 big bore 427 race care which make up the C3 showings. Too many C5's

could the tires also be standing up under the heat/high speed (like they do on dragsters under high acceleration)?
