I have a Tach for a 75 vette that I want to put in my 73 which the previous owner upgraded to an HEI distributor without the Tach Drive. As I look at the back of the Tach there are three electrical connectors....two connectors on top and next to each other and one connector below the two. I'm assuming that one connector is for signal, one for +12v and one grnd.....can someone tell me which connector does what. I've tried looking at the circuit board but can't figure it out.
Try a search on tach conversion, lots of help there I have done the conversion its not bad, one wire to 12V one to ground and one to your coil, but I cant remember the order
I have also considered doing this conversion on my 74. I found 2 tachs from 75 Vettes on Ebay but it looks like the numbers are slightly different in style on the 75 electronic tach than on my 74. Is this true? For those of you with 74 and earlier Vettes that have done this conversion, how well do the numbers and letters match up between your 73/74 speedo and the 75 tach?
sure hope this shows up....you can see the layout of the terminals. It's an old terminal board that I kept around when I installed a Elec Tach in my 68.
.....I would guess the arrangement is the same for 75, 76, and 77.....I didn't have the connector so I just used female terminal connectors on mine...haven't had a problem and it's been about 5 years.
I don't know how to post a picture directly so it shows up here.
