Default i need help :(

ok, so i have ordered a new windshield fluid reservoir and pump and im trying to see if the fluid pump works. to start, the water i put in to test runs straight out the bottom, is this proper, or should it only come out when the pump engages? next, when i checked the wires that are supposed to run to it, on has 11.57 current and the other has 5.02. this is without an switch being pushed... just turned the key on and there it is. i
then connected the wires and pushed in on the windshield wiper switch (i assume this is how to "activate" the pump) and nothing happened.

id really like to know if these are problems before i put it in because im going to have to remove the MC an the cruise control box to (hopefully) get it put in..

i just spent 240 on parts to "finish" putting this thing back together, and half of them were crap.... this is really frustrating

Yes water will flow right through the pump and out the bottom even when the pump is not pumping.

The power wire should only have 12V when the switch is activated. If it has 12V on the power wire side when everything is off then you have a problem, possibly with the switch.

You said the ground tested with voltage?

Try this, run a power wire and a ground wire from the battery. Connect the ground to the pump motor without the stock harness connected. Once it's connected, touch the power wire from the battery to the other terminal and see if the pump works.

Once you have verified the pump works you can test the stock wiring without the pump connected. If you're getting 12V on the ground you might have a crossed wire or again, a bad switch.

At the washer pump there will be a white wire and a pink wire. The white should have power with the key on. The pink will get grounded by the washer switch and cause the pump to run. The 5 volts you are reading at the pink wire is only backfeed torough the wiper motor, dont worry about that. You may have a bad switch or maybe not a good ground to the switch.

sweet! if the pump works otherwise, i will give that a check. to check the wiring though, if i push in the switch, that would mean the pink "should" go to 0 volts, right?
