I have a 498 stroker with a .615 lift cam paired with 3:73 gears and a 5 speed transmission. With this much torque and cam will i experience jerking motion at low speeds? When i let off the gas and cruise at low speeds my car wants to jump or jerk, is this normal?
If it's doing that jerking in gear and rolling, then it just means that your engine RPM is slowing down faster than the car. It's probably a high compression engine with tight tolerances and it isn't as free spinning as a lower compression smaller engine. It's fairly normal and I think I know the feeling. I notice the same difference when I drive a small 4 banger with a manual and then drive a large cube engine with a manual.
Heck, it's very common to use your engine to slow you down coming off of a cruise to a stop and save the brake pads.
Yeah, thats the feeling and it happens in gear rolling, slowing down. It does not do it bad at a higher gear but still noticeable. I guess she is whined up tight. The Centerforce dual clutch doesn't help either.
...I'm thinking about buying either a Centerforce or McLeod dual disk. Could you, or someone, tell me what you are alluding to?..In other words what is the problem? Are the dual disk clutches "grabby" and make smooth shifting difficult?

Thanks
Not grabby at all
What are the duration numbers on your cam. If you have a very high duration it will be a poor performer or get "jerky" at a low rpm. You can't have a high rpm motor that will run at 1500 rpm very well.

A jerking at light cruise is usually indicative of over-advanced timing. If you're running vacuum advance, try yanking the hose off and see how the engine behaves then.
no vacuum advance, using mechanical advance from msd pro billet. I have the advance curve set at 18 Degrees and the total timing at 36. I will post my cam spec information as soon as i find the cam sheet. I also have plugged all the vacuum lines in case of vacuum leak. Could this be a carb problem? It is a brand new holley 850 and brand new fuel tank, but the ran had been ran for test drives after the new motor was put in without a fuel filter. It has one installed now, could that been the case for performing poorly at low rpm's? She runs like a raped ape when i get on it.
